Augustus was the great-nephew and adopted son of Julius Caesar. He was the first Emperor of Rome under the Roman Empire.
History

When Batman and Robin are stranded in Ancient Rome by Gorilla Grodd and Solomon Grundy, Augustus believed that they had stolen his treasure, when it was actually Grodd and Grundy's doing. He then has them taken to the Colosseum to be killed by the Lions. But Superman time travels to their location and rescues them.
