This was the first Super Friends DVD release from the DC Comics Classic Collection by Warner Home Video. It featured half of Season 3; the episodes that featured the Legion of Doom. The other half of the season was released on Super Friends: Volume Two. Although this is the first season of Challenge of the Super Friends and the first DVD release of the Super Friends series, it is actually the third season overall (preceded by Super Friends, 1973-74, and The All-New Super Friends Hour, 1977-78).
