Tobacco was a type of plant native to Earth. It could be consumed, used as a pesticide and, in the form of nicotine tartrate, used in some medicines.
The leaves of tobacco were often rolled up in bundles called cigars or cigarettes, and smoked by people, a common practice for humans on Earth. Tobacco could also be smoked in tobacco pipes. But tobacco was a highly addictive substance, making it difficult for one to quit once started. It was also one of the leading causes of lung cancer.
