Iron was a type of chemical element. It was used to make steel.[2]
Iron was a member of the Metal Men, who was made of living iron.[3]
The so-called Iron Eater was an alien monster that consumed iron. Superman sent him to an asteroid made entirely of iron, so that he would have plenty to eat for his entire life.[4]
When Hank and Ben were mining quarks from gold in various locations in the United States - thereby rendering the ore null of its' gold, it also had an effect on other metals in the country, such as iron. This is what caused the steel girder of a skyscraper to tear off, and nearly caused the entire building to collapse.[5]
