Hawkman is a native of the planet Thanagar, a world that orbits the star known as Polaris.[1]
Polaris (also known as the North Star, Pole Star and Alpha Ursae Minoris) was a star in the Milky Way Galaxy.
It was the primary body of the Polaris star system. The planet Thanagar orbited this star, which was the home of the Thanagarian race.
