The Planet Venus[1]

Venus is the second-closest planet to the Sun and closest planet to Earth.

After the Moon, it is the brightest object seen from the sky at night on Earth. It is often called the Morning Star or the Evening Star.

The planet is named after Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty.

Earth-1A Continuity

The planet Venus was much warmer and wetter than Earth, and there was much more vegetation.[2] At least that was the case at one time, as it is possible that at some point, some sort of disaster occurred, possibly a nuclear war, that devastated the atmosphere of the planet, causing it to be uninhabitable and therefore forcing many Venusian species to live underground. The Pytho-Rexians, for example, lived in caves. One species, the Fearians, made an alliance with the Legion of Doom so that they could make the atmosphere of Earth similar to the way Venus was, and then they could relocate there.[3]

  1. This image was taken from A Visit to Venus
  2. As told in the Season 3 (1978) episode, Invasion of the Fearians
  3. This is conjecture based on the fact that in real life, Venus is an uninhabitable planet with no known vegetation, and that the Pytho-Rexians live underground, which implies that maybe the surface is uninhabitable, but at one time it was. Also, the Fearians had the intention to colonize Earth, implying that Venus no longer had such an atmosphere. However this could be argued since the Justice League Computer made the implication that the atmosphere of Venus was currently that way.
  4. As seen in the episode Termites from Venus.
